Stockholmsmentor

Make a big difference in someone's life by becoming a "Stockholmsmentor", and help a newly arrived Stockholmer or someone who is far from the labor market.

Stockholmsmentor is part of the Integration Pact. The City and the business community create opportunities for Stockholmers to establish themselves on the labor market, while at the same time meet the business community's demand for labor. There are three mentoring programs: Vocational mentor, Language mentor and Youth mentor.

You can be a Stockholmsmentor by:

  • sharing your experience, skills and industry knowledge and helping to shorten your mentee’s path to work
  • sharing your experiences and knowledge of Swedish working life and language to a newcomer.

Personal exchange can provide valuable insights

Getting closer to a person through conversations also gives you the opportunity to develop personally and gain a greater insight into what it is like to be new in Stockholm and in Sweden.

By becoming a Stockholmsmentor, you can help the mentee to:

  • gain more knowledge about Swedish working life
  • get language training that increases the opportunity to complete studies
  • get language training that increases the opportunity to find a job
  • get increased knowledge in different areas of work
  • practice in professional Swedish.

Arrangement for you as a mentor

Common to all mentoring programs is that you meet your mentee once a month for eight months. You decide the time and place for your meetings. When you meet, it is preferable that you speak Swedish.

During the program, you as a mentor get:

  • support and follow-up
  • network meeting for mentors
  • a digital two-hour competence-enhancing mentor education focused on intercultural perspective and communication.
