Deepen your knowledge in event safety and accessibility

As an organizer, you are responsible for the event's safety and accessibility. It is therefore important that you are informed about what applies.

Training in Event Safety

The City of Stockholm, together with the Stockholm Police Region and the Swedish Defence and Resilience Agency, offers training in event safety to those who organize an event. If you are an organizer, you must undergo training when applying for a permit. Feel free to let others who will work with the event take the training as well.

Security guide for events

The Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency has developed a security guide for events. The guide provides support in how you can work preventively to reduce the risk of accidents, protect events against terrorism and other threats, and prevent crime.

Create more accessible and inclusive events

As an organizer, you have a responsibility to create more accessible and inclusive events and meetings. Accessibility includes not only the physical environment but also things such as information, digital technology, products, and treatment. Accessibility needs to be considered from the very beginning.

According to the Discrimination Act, organizers are obliged to remove obstacles that may exclude people with disabilities. It is not an option – it is a responsibility. But it is also an opportunity to reach new target groups, create more inclusive experiences, and build stronger, more vibrant events.

“More in the Stands” for increased accessibility at events

In connection with the 2025 Men's Ice Hockey World Championship in Stockholm, the project "More in the Stands" was carried out. The championship served as a test arena for how the city can make events more inclusive and accessible for more people. Based on the experiences, a methodology handbook and a film were produced for organizers as support for making events more inclusive.
