Practical conditions for events and meetings

As an organizer, you need to keep track of electricity, water, waste, and transport.

You can make sustainable choices when planning and carrying out your event.

Things to consider!

Electricity is a necessary part of an event. Preferably use eco-labeled electricity. If you use diesel generators, choose bio-diesel.

On Ellevio's website, you can find information about the possibility of making a temporary power grid connection to a fixed event cabinet.

Drinking water is often needed both for the event itself and for visitors. Avoid water in single-use bottles. On Stockholm Vatten och Avfall's website, you can read more about event water and temporary water supply.

On Kranmärkt's website, you can read more about the benefits of locally produced fresh water.

Events generate waste, but always work to minimize the amount of waste and ensure opportunities for source separation and material recycling.

All public outdoor gatherings and all events with serving areas with seating must offer source separation of packaging and food waste.

On Stockholm Vatten och Avfall's website, you can read more about what applies to waste from temporary outdoor events.

For indoor events, it is the property owner's or business operator's responsibility to ensure functioning waste management. There are exceptions when you as an organizer are responsible for waste management indoors. As an organizer, you are responsible for finding out what applies.

Keep Sweden Clean has developed a guide that shows how you as an organizer can reduce the amount of plastic and trash during your event.

The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency provides support regarding the rules for the requirement that events offer reusable cups and food containers when serving food.

Transportation at an event is one of the aspects that has the greatest climate impact. Encourage sustainable modes of transport, both regarding deliveries and visitors' travel.
